At just 16 years old, he recognized the inequalities and injustices faced by waste pickers in his community, despite their essential contributions to both livelihoods and environmental sustainability in urban areas.

Meet the Board

  • Grace Whitney

    Grace is the Executive Director of Living Grace, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities through education, health, child protection, and mental health advocacy.

    Grace has been working on women empowerment and fighting against gender-based violence for a decade, transforming lives through compassion, collaboration, and sustainable support.

  • Cressida Bowyer

    Cressida is Professor in Arts and Sustainability at the University of Portsmouth, and Deputy Director of the University's Revolution Plastics Institute. A biological scientist by training and having previously worked in the arts, the primary purpose of her research is to address global problems such as air quality and plastic pollution using trans-disciplinary and participatory approaches.

    Cressida often use arts-based methods, such as music, theater, storytelling and visual arts, to engage communities and find solutions to global issues in line with United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Maxwell Aketch

    Maxwell Aketch is a passionate Technical Advisor with extensive experience in child protection, community development, and social work. With a background in social psychology and a deep understanding of grassroots issues, he has led impactful programs in mental health, primary health care, and livelihood improvement.

    Maxwell has worked closely with street-connected families, waste workers, vulnerable women and girls, and other marginalized groups providing psychosocial support, strengthening resilience, and promoting sustainable development. His expertise in social enterprise, policy, and community-based interventions continues to transform lives and empower communities.
